Richard Hancock

Richard Hancock, formerly of Jo Davis county, Illinois, aged 21 years, died at Fort Whipple, Aug. 27.

He had been working on the Hassayampa, and was taken with typhoid fever. He received every attention at the fort and the officers attended his funeral on the Sabbath morning, Aug. 28.

The services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Read, and the body was deposited in the beautiful grounds of the town cemetery, beside that of Hon. Joel Woods of Colorado, the first person buried there.

Transcriber's note: Mr. Hancock is buried in an unknown and unmarked grave site at the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
