Ian Grant, 82, of Prescott, Arizona, passed away March 8, 2017, at the Marley House. The son of George Dods Grant and Jessie Collie (Forbes) Grant, both now deceased.

Ian was born in 1934 in Glasgow, Scotland. He attended Alan Glens School, a scientific secondary school and in 1960 he obtained an honors degree in Applied Chemistry from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland. Upon graduation he joined Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) and in 1964 emigrated to the United States transferring to ICI Americas where he worked until his retirement in 1991. He held the position of Director of Planning and New Product Development in ICI’s Advanced Materials Business and had a role in its formation and growth.

Ian married Annette Jeanne Bonenfant in 1970 and, after retirement, moved to Prescott in 1994 where they enjoyed their retirement until Annette’s untimely death in 1998.

In 2004, he married Eileen Wood Flugum in Renhold, Bedfordshire, England. Ian loved classical music, world travel, time with his family in England and his many friends. As one friend described him, Ian was an amazing man, so intelligent, funny, kind and fun all wrapped up in that wonderful Scottish accent.

Ian will be deeply missed by his wife, his loving family and his many lifelong friends. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Grant; brother, Dr. George Forbes Grant (Dr. Anne Grant) of Renhold, England; nephew, Duncan Grant (Tessa Jorden) of Ridgmont, England; niece, Fiona Grant (Chris Price) of Hitchin, England; and four great nieces, Jessie and Siena Grant and Edie and Georgia Price. Graveside services will be held at Heritage Memorial Park at 1 p.m. on April 1, 2017, with Deacon Pete Balland from Sacred Heart Catholic Church presiding.

A private memorial gathering will also be held later. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Ian’s name to the Margaret T. Morris Center for their music enrichment program, 878 Sunset Avenue, Prescott, AZ 86305.
