Merry Adelia Penrod
March 23, 1937 - June 13, 2017

Merry Adelia Penrod, 80 died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at The Haven in Show Low, Arizona. She was born March 23, 1937 in Fairplay, Colorado to Harry and Nova Gardner.

Merry graduated from High School in Globe-Miami, Arizona and was crowned Miss Globe-Miami in the mid to late 1950s.

She went to Cosmetology School in Englewood, Colorado.

She married Donald Smith in Portales, NM on March 30, 1959. They had 3 children: Dawn, Lori and Bryan. Years later they divorced and Merry found love again and married Mart Penrod.

Merry was a stay at home Mom and her hobbies included sewing, cooking, gardening, fishing and reading. Later in life she learned to crochet and turned out many beautiful pieces including dresses for her doll collection. She loved to make items and give them away as gifts. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints July 12, 1998.

Merry is survived by her two daughters, Dawn N. Rodriquez of Tyrone, NM & Lori G. Rohmer of Adkins, TX; four grandchildren, Carissa Ramos, Sam Rohmer, Courtney Rohmer and Leslie Herrees; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nova, who died while giving birth to Merry; also, father, Harry; son, Bryan Smith; and brother, Melvin Gardner.

A viewing will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Owens Livingston Mortuary, 320 N. 9th St. in Show Low, Arizona, with services immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.
