Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Friday, June 9, 2017 <<< John (Jack) Charles Hartshorn passed away March 11, 2017 in Lake Havasu City, John was born in Seattle April 24, 1946, the son of Roberta and Howard Hartshorn. He attended the University of Washington, Seattle (psychology, Dale Carnegie sales). He joined the United States Coast Guard on March 3, 1966 for a six-month enlistment. John was employed by Paul Daniels & Sons, General Contractor, Mercer Island, Washington; The Salmon Store, our store in Havasu. Also in Havasu, he worked for Cap’s Painting & Paper Hanging, Crazyhorse Campgrounds, Westco Paint and Diamond Car Care, Inc. John married Shirley Nix in 1967 in Seattle. He remarried on March 17, 1984 to Sally Christian in Las Vegas. He passed away on March 11, it was six days shy of their 33rd anniversary. Sally said, “I will miss you forever!” John enjoyed fishing, shooting, and bar hopping. This all came to an end when cancer struck. John was treated at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale in 2000 for throat cancer. He also was treated at Havasu’s Cancer Care Center in 2010, Cancer Care of Western Arizona in 2017 by Dr. Nicholas Roman. Thank you for your care, and thank you, too, to Dr. Michael Wrona and to Dr. Michael Prater. John is preceded in death by his parents, Roberta and Howard Hartshorn. He is survived by his wife, Sally Christian; sisters Kay Mierendorf, of Calgary, Alberta and Linda Potter of Maple Valley. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
