Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Sunday, August 13, 2017 <<< Richard James Panter, 81, of Lake Havasu City passed away Aug. 8, 2017. He was born Nov. 13, 1935 in Van Nuys, California to his parents, Dick and Evelyn Panter. From Van Nuys, his family moved to Turlock, California for the next 20 years. It was there that Richard met and eventually married his love of his life, Shirley. They were married in Turlock in 1960. Richard and Shirley lived in Oxnard and Roseville, California, for 40. In 2001, the couple decided it was time for a change and they moved to Lake Havasu City, where they have resided ever since. Richard was employed as an automotive technician for Cadillac and Chevrolet and retired after dedicating 39 years of his working career to his love of cars. Richard had a lifelong interest in boats, cars and drag racing, either as a participant or as a spectator. Most of all, he loved and cherished his family. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Evelyn Panter, and son Gregory Panter. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 57 years, Shirley Panter, of Lake Havasu City; sons Ronald Panter, of Oxnard, California and Guy Panter, of Temecula, California; sister Susan McBride of Lake Village, Arkansas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Richard’s final resting place will be in Turlock, California at a later date. Arrangements were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
