CALLED TO REST

Untimely Death of Mrs. F. W. Howard Yesterday Morning

Mrs. F. W. Howard died yesterday morning at 3 o'clock at the family residence on North Third avenue of an abcess (sic: abscess) of the liver. She had been a sufferer for the last year, but had only been confined to the house for a short time.

Mrs. Howard's maiden name was Elizabeth Jane Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac N. Harris, and she was born in Riverton, Iowa, December 28, 1875. Her girlhood was spent in Hamburg, Iowa, and seven years ago she went with her parents to California, where her father died. About six years ago she was married in Fresno to Mr. F. W. Howard. With the exception of a year spent in her former home in Iowa she has lived since in Arizona, a short time in Jerome and the rest of the time in this city. Her mother and brothers and sister came to Phoenix from California about the same time Mr. and Mrs. Howard did, later moving to Prescott. Her mother, however, returned to Phoenix to nurse her in her last illness and with her brother, W. C. Harris, was at her bedside when the final summons came. Besides her bereaved husband she leaves a boy three years old to mourn a mother's loss.

Her eldest brother, Mr. T. L. Harris and family, reside in Prescott and the remains were taken there on last night's train for interment.

Mrs. Howard was a most estimable woman, of a kind and affectionate disposition, and during the residence in this city of Mr. and Mrs. Howard both made many friends who will sympathize with the former and sorrow for the untimely ending of the latter's promising and exemplary life.
