Albina I. Conte (1922 - 2017)

Wickenburg, Ariz.--Albina I. Conte, 95, of Wickenburg, formerly of Fairview and Girard, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday (Nov. 10, 2017) at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Ariz. She moved to Arizona in 2006, making her home with her daughter and son-in-law.

Albina was born in Erie, Pa., on May 19, 1922, daughter of the late William H. and Blanche Englert Burger.

She had been a resident of the Salamanca and Little Valley, N.Y. areas for more than 50 years before moving to Erie in 1995. She was the owner and operator of "Bina's Little Kitchen" Restaurant for 20 years in Little Valley, until her retirement in 1972. She had also worked at Fancher Furniture Company in Salamanca and the Signore Company in Ellicottville, N.Y.

She enjoyed playing cards and coordinating day trips for senior citizens.

She had been a member of the women's unit in the Salamanca Volunteer Fire Department, a life member of the Southwestern New York Volunteer Fire Association, Ladies of the Elks, past Post No. 1025 in Salamanca, American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 742 in Fairview and an active member of the Tri-Boro Senior Center in Fairview. She was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean, Pa.

She is survived by a son, Merle (Mary) Burger of Little Valley; a daughter Joyce (William) Spraker of Wickenburg; three grandsons, Mark (Sue Ann) Burger, Greg (Denise) Ewing and Shane (Kelly) Ewing; granddaughter, Michelle (Paul) Casson; four great-grandsons, Sawyer, Jared, Andrew and Paul; three great-granddaughters, Noelle, Elizabeth and Alyssa; a sister-in-law, Donna Burger; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick J. Conte, on Sept. 22, 1983; a sister, Anita Wagner; and two brothers, Irwin and Wallace Burger.

Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery Salamanca.
