James Brinkoetter killed in combat copter crash

WO James A. Brinkoetter, 21, an Army helicopter pilot with the 118th Assault Co. in Vietnam since March, was killed there Saturday on a combat flight.

WO Brinkoetter joined the Army in 1967 and was graduated as a warrant officer helicopter pilot March 10 at Ft. Rucker, Ala.

He attended Simis Elementary School, graduated from Central High school in 1965, and attended the University of Arizona 18 months. He was a member of an Explorer Scout troop here. Born in Quincy, Ill., he came to Phoenix in 1958.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin F. Brinkoetter of 612 E. Nicolet; two brothers, Terrence and Keith, both of Phoenix; a sister, Mrs. Gerald Cicotte of El Cajon, Calif.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Rosenkoetter of Quincy.

Services and burial with full military honors will be announced by A.L. Moore and Sons Mortuary.
