Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, October 22, 2014, page A-21.3 Kenneth Carl Hallows, 91, of Humboldt, Az., passed away on October 16, 2014. Kenneth was born on January 26, 1923 in Ashburn, Mo. to Carl and May Hallows. He is survived by his wife of two years, Norma; sisters Leora and Karen; brothers, Gerald and JD. His siblings preceded in dearth are Elizabeth, Laura Lee and James. Kenneth joined the Coast Guard in 1941, serving on the CGC Buttonwood. Upon discharge in 1946, he visited his cousin, Lillian, in Chicago. She convinced her best friend, Isabelle, to go with her to the Brown Derby to meet him, since he just got home from the war. It was a whirlwind romance and they were married 3 weeks later by Ken's father, who was a preacher. Prayers for children were answered with 7 sons, Rusty, deceased, (wife Sue); Jim (Lillie; Randy (Rita); Terry (Rumpai, deceased); Bob; Kevin (Laura); and John, recently deceased, and 3 daughters, Kathy (Mike); Nancy (Andy); Patty (Ken). He was loved by his 27 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. He and Isabelle retired in Humboldt in 1988. With the help of all their children, he built their home. His lovely Isabelle passed away in 1989. Ken later married Evelyn Bijlaard, (deceased). Most important to him was his faith and love for God. He loved Adoration and prayed the Rosary daily for his family and friends. Services will be held October 24, 2014, at St. Germaine Catholic Church, 7997 E. Dana Dr., Prescott Valley, Az., 86314, Visitation begins at 9:30, Rosary at 10:30 followed by Holy Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00. Luncheon immediately following, hosted by the Ladies Guild. Ken will be laid to rest at 2:00, at the Humboldt Cemetery, next to his beloved Isabelle. In lieu of flowers, donations accepted for St. Germaine Building fund.
