Published by Today's News Herald on Apr. 21, 2024 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - A celebration of life is set for April 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Calvary Church, 3735 London Bridge Road, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. Kimberly Ann Maxwell, 65, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2024 in Lake Havasu City. She was born in Sumter, South Carolina on April 7, 1959 to Barbara and Berton Combos. She graduated from Thousand Oaks High School in Thousand Oaks, California in 1977 and continued on to Moorpark College. As a teenager, Kim accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a summer church camp. She was passionate about the Bible and up for a debate about the Scripture anytime. At age 13, Kim was diagnosed with scoliosis, and although she had surgery to correct it, suffered degrees of pain all her life. Despite this, Kim made long-lasting friends, and enjoyed cooking and growing her own vegetables. She also deeply loved animals-especially horses- and always had a dog at her side. In 2017 Kim moved to Lake Havasu City to be close to family after her husband Steven passed away in the VA hospital in Reno, Nevada. She is preceded in death by her father, Bert, and is survived by her mother, Barbara Chrestensen, sister Wendy Volkmar, and brothers Christopher Combos and Jeffrey Combos, plus five nieces and nephews: Stacey, Corey, Jessica, Lucas and Kaitlyn. In addition, she is survived by six great nieces and nephews: Eli, Naomi, Jakob, Iris, Marceli and Caleb (JR). |
