Vera Viola (Goree) Anderson

Vera Viola (Vi) (Goree) Anderson passed away at age 97 on December 12,
2024, in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She passed away peacefully at home,
surrounded by family.

Vi was born on January 16, 1927, in Tucson, AZ to parents Lilbourn and
Bertha Goree. She was the second of three children, with older sister
Dorothy and younger brother Lilbourn (Sonny). She attended Bell High
School in Bell, CA and graduated in 1944. On February 17, 1945, Vi
married Wendell (Fuzzy) Anderson in Maywood, CA. They settled in
Norwalk, CA and had two sons, Lee and Richard. Vi and Fuzzy were married
for nearly 66 years until Fuzzy's death in 2011.

Vi first worked for Firestone Rubber, a job she began during World War
II. She later worked for ABC Unified School District as a school bus
driver until she retired in July of 1984. She was an athlete and
traveled around the country for volleyball tournaments as part of the
Amateur Athletic Union.

In 1992, Vi and Fuzzy moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. Vi remained active
after retirement, waterskiing with her granddaughters and participating
in a local bowling league. She was foremost a talented artist. Her China
painting won awards at local competitions and her Southwestern-inspired
ceramics line the homes of numerous family members and friends. Vi and
Fuzzy were active members of the Relics & Rods car club, where they met
several lifelong friends. Vi also valued hosting card games with
friends.

Vi is survived by her son Lee and his wife Margie Anderson, son Richard
and his wife Irene Anderson, grandchildren Jenny Anderson, Jody
Anderson, Kayla Markson, and Alisa Lanphar, and brother Sonny Goree. She
is predeceased by her sister Dorothy Seufferlein and her husband Fuzzy
Anderson.

Details regarding a Celebration of Life will be provided at a future
date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Havasu
Senior Center and/or Hospice of Havasu.
