Nadine (Macias) Champlin

It is with the deepest of sorrows that we announce the death of Nadine Champlin on Sept. 13, 2024, in Peoria, Ariz.

Nadine was born to Manuel and Concepcion Maldonado Macias on Oct. 28, 1935, in Litchfield Park, Ariz. at La Loma Ranch. A fourth-generation daughter, her great-grandfather Ramon Macias established the 6M ranch where her family resided through generations. She grew up with her brother, Shorty, and sister, Ersie, along with close cousins who lived nearby. Nadine graduated from Wickenburg High School Class of 1953. She married Bruce Champlin on April 21, 1956 in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Wickenburg, and were married 49 years at his passing.

She was a loving wife and mother to daughter, Christine, and son, David. Nadine enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, golfing, listening to music, volunteering and visiting with family and friends. She and Bruce hosted many parties throughout their lives and were longtime members of the Wickenburg Country Club. They both enjoyed traveling, picnicking and entertaining. Nadine was a member of the Elks Lodge Women’s Auxiliary and the Wickenburg Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary for many years and worked at local businesses throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; son, David; parents; brother, Shorty Macias; other relatives; and friends. Nadine is survived by her daughter, Christine (David) Pierce; daughter-in-law, Cindy Radavich Champlin; grandsons, John and Matthew Champlin; sister, Ersie Randolph; grandchildren, D.J. & KaMe Pierce; and numerous great-grandchildren living out of Arizona.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Julia (Art) Brooks, Debora (Don) Griffiths, Mike (Terry) Macias, Frank (Ranea) Macias, Alex (Julie) Macias, Susan (Bill) Fox, Ray (Norma Gale) Carroll, Carol (Rusty) Rubert and John and Edwin Randolph. Nadine is also survived by additional cousins and wonderful friends with whom she enjoyed long-lasting friendships.

A Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua (232 N. Tegner Street) in Wickenburg. A reception will follow with food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to WCO.org (Little Red Schoolhouse.) Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
