| Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Wednesday, November 20, 2024, p. A-6 Richard Gordon Mayer, 90, of Yarnell died Oct. 30, 2024 at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Ariz. Richard was born Sept. 12, 1934 to Irving Mayer and Hilda Dobson Mayer in Los Angeles, Calif. He moved to Phoenix in 1940 and attended Kenilworth Grade School. He graduated from West Phoenix High School in 1953. He served in the Navy from Sept. 15, 1952 to Oct. 26, 1964 as an EN2/Instructor. Richard retired in Oct. 1992 as a Civil Engineer after 30 years with Maricopa County. He is survived by his wife, Paula Poland Mayer; daughter, Lauren Peterson; sons, Eric and Ronald; grandchildren, Alicia Raphael, Sondra Peterson, David, Ronald Jr., Jeffrey Mayer and Kelly Ohland; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests donations be made to Phoenix Children's Foundation or Yavapai Humane Society of Prescott, Ariz. |
